USPS International Insurance (PMEI, PMI)
USPS international insurance is included with the following mail services: Priority Mail Express International and Priority Mail International.
Unlike, First-Class Package International, Priority Mail International Flat Rate Envelopes and Priority Mail International Small Flat Rate Boxes insurance is not available. However, depending on the destination country, you may be able to send them Registered, which includes Indemnity (Insurance) coverage. See International Mail Manual (IMM) for more information.
The coverage varies by service and destination country and it provides coverage against loss, damage, or missing packages. Unfortunately, it is not available for all countries and the amount is different for each country and for each shipping service. To find out those specifics you can search for a country you are interested in shipping to HERE.
Even though you pay for insurance or it is already included, it will not provide confirmation of delivery, tracking or guaranteed delivery time.
Priority Mail Express International (PMEI) insurance
Priority Mail Express International (PMEI) includes up to $200 insurance for loss, damage, and/or missing packages at no additional charge. Additional insurance may be purchased (up to $5,000).
Priority Mail International (PMI) insurance
Priority Mail International (PMI) (except for Flat Rate Envelopes and Small Flat Rate Boxes) includes up to $200 insurance each for loss, damage, and/or missing package at no additional charge. Additional insurance may be purchased, as well as for PMEI (that amount cannot exceed $5,000).
If the package has been lost, or delivered to the destination address in damaged condition or with missing contents, payment is made to the sender unless the sender waives the right to payment in favor of the addressee.
