What is the right USPS Domestic Mail Service for your business?

The United States Postal Service (USPS) offers different types of mail services that sometimes can be overwhelming to understand or choose the best one for your business. International Bridge offers discounted rates for all USPS Domestic mail classes and here we are helping you choose the right one for your business. 

Each service varies when it comes to cost, delivery time, and maximum weight. Here are the domestic services which are discounted through our free to use blue platform:

• Priority Mail Express (PME)
• Priority Mail (PM)
• Ground Advantage (GA)

USPS Domestic Services:

Priority Mail Express (PME)

Formerly known as Express Mail, Priority Mail Express is the fastest, domestic USPS delivery service. It offers overnight delivery in most cases, but only for urban areas, delivery for rural areas can take up to 2 days. For overnight service, its preferred that shipment departs before 10:30 am, to avoid any delays. Delivery on Sunday and holidays are available, but there is an additional fee. 

PME includes USPS Tracking and up to $100 of insurance. If you request a delivery signature it will be included in the price.  The maximum weight of a package is up to 70lbs and the maximum combined length and girth is 108 inches. USPS uses zone-based pricing (there are 9 zones in the United States) for PME the prices are based on the distance between FROM and TO addresses. While more expensive than the other mail classes, packages will be delivered on time, or you will get a full refund.

 Priority Mail (PM)

Priority Mail is the cheapest way to ship packages over 1lbs (you can use any type of packaging, but the advantage of PM is that shipping boxes are free of charge). It offers 1-3 business day delivery anywhere in the United State, free tracking, and $100 of built-in insurance (with CPP rates, which IB offers).

It is the best-selling USPS mail service, but it is not guaranteed; delivery may be delayed. The maximum allowed weight of a package is up to 70lbs and the maximum combined length and girth is 108 inches. Saturday delivery is available with no surcharges. The rates are based on weight and zone.

 Ground Advantage (GA)

Ground Advantage is a fast, cost-effective way to ship packages that weigh up 70 lbs. For lightweight packages, GA offers greater savings compared to Priority Mail. Delivery occurs between 2-5 business days anywhere in the United States (tracking is included).

This USPS service does not include insurance so, we recommend that you purchase additional shipping insurance. Rates for GA are determined by zones and weight of the package. For packages weighing under a pound, pricing will be broken up into 4 weight ranges (1-4 oz, 4.001-8 oz, 8.001-12 oz, and 12.001-15.999 oz) similar to how it’s been for First-Class Package Service.  To learn more about size restrictions, click here.
