How can I avoid Label cost adjustments?
The best way to ensure a pleasant and carefree shipping experience, is by remembering to enter accurate mail-piece information when creating a label. Follow these additional tips to make sure the label you create with blue™ is accurate:
- Measure the weight of the entire packed mail-piece: Place the item in the packaging, add any necessary packing materials, and then weigh the entire package.
- Measure dimensions of entire package accurately: When using your own packaging, make sure to accurately measure the length, width, and height of the box you are using. Enter measured values and review those for accuracy before printing a label. If the mail-pieces are larger than intended, USPS can charge extra due to the dimensional weight pricing (DIM).
- Remember the “round-up” rule: All USPS rates are presented in terms of "up-to" or "not-to-exceed" a specific weight. USPS always rounds-up to the nearest ounce or pound depending on the shipping service, before they apply charge. For example, is your package is 4.2lb and you enter 4lb when creating a label, USPS will adjust this rate to that of a 5lb package.
- Ship the mail-piece on correct mailing date: Bring your label package to the appropriate Post Office on the date that you have selected when creating a label.
- Use one label per one package: If you are fulfilling an order which requires multiple packages, multiple labels should be printed – one label for each package within the order.
